Beatrice Schlee, PhD, became aware of how profoundly conflict permeates society during the field research for her PhD thesis in International Politics on the long lasting effects of the Spanish civil war 60 years after it ended. She then directed the office of a German political foundation in Zimbabwe for three years to support democracy. Returning to research, she concentrated on the political immobility and apathy of Zimbabwean citizens. Findings from social psychology, neuroscience, and embodiment theory broadened her perspective. She founded Bodymemory, an organization supporting refugees, migrants and Germans through a non-verbal body centered approach to strengthen their agency. Beatrice is a lecturer at different universities, associate research member of the Arnold-Bergstraesser Institute and conducts research within the center for movement and embodiment research of bodymemory in cooperation with the Universities of Applied Sciences in Freiburg, Germany. (Editors Note: For two years Beatrice has traveled to Jordan to join the team of Common Bond Institute assisting refugee children and their families served by CBI's trauma healing programs.) -- Email: info@bodymemory.de / beatrice.schlee@abi.uni-freiburg.de / Website: www.bodymemory.de / Phone: +49761 50369937 / +49176 625 77018
