The International Journal of Communal and Transgenerational Trauma (IJCTT) is committed to diversity and inclusion in both publishing and access. We encourage submissions from a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary range of contributors globally who have professional and/or personal experiences directly germane to the topic. Based on the assumption of universal relevance and significance, content reflects the perspectives, experience, and knowledge of a spectrum of key stakeholders, including professional researchers, academics, theorists, philosophers, practitioners, service providers, artists, policy makers, activists, social and cultural representatives, and the informed general public.

TYPES OF CONTENT ACCEPTED:

The journal content is comprised of a unique blend of categories to encompass a whole-person perspective, consisting of:

1. Scholarly Articles (research, theory, application, and policy) are welcome from researchers, practitioners, academics, and policy makers. Submissions should be original contributions or reprints with authorization, and are subject to peer review. Types of scholarly content:
   • Full articles containing significant data, detail, developments, and outcomes.
   • Review papers summarizing recent developments on a specific topic, w/out introducing new data.
   • Short reports intended for quick and early communication of significant or original advances, without including a great deal of data or detail.
2. Professional and Philosophical Perspectives, based on study, training, skills, and experience related to the journal subject. (References and footnotes are optional)
   
3. Reviews of Publications, Media, or Programs
4. Personal Perspectives of stakeholders, including both professionals and members of the general global public, expressing subjective experiences and viewpoints related to the journal subject. (References and footnotes are optional)
   
5. Poetry, Spoken Word, Lyrics, and Short Prose
   Short prose text is limited to between 500 and 5,000 words maximum. Submissions beyond this limit must be approved in advance by the editors.
6. Art, Photography, and Graphics
   Submitted in JPEG, TIFF or EPS formats only.
7. Multimedia – audio and/or video
   Limited to 20 minutes maximum in length, unless approved by the editors, and may include artistic expression, presentations, panel dialogues, PowerPoint, podcasts, interviews, etc. Formats for submission are video: MP4 or WEBM, and audio: MP3

TECHNICALS:

There Are Two Steps Required For All Submissions: 

Step 1: Via the On-line Submission Form  – and –

Format Of Emailed PDF Attachment Submissions:

Text Documents: 

•  There is no need to follow a specific template when submitting your manuscript. However, for accuracy please ensure your heading levels are clear, and the sections clearly defined.
• In black, 12 point, Arial or Times Roman font.
• 1.5 line spaced
• Fonts used in illustrations, pictures, and graphs should not significantly vary in size and type (usually Arial or Sans Serif font as a default)
• Charts, figures, and tables should be placed within the main text rather than at the end of the document. Files created in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, JPG, TIFF, and EPS should also be submitted separately to allow for separate editing.
  

Further specifics – only for Scholarly Articles:
Manuscripts should contain text that includes the following elements in order:

• Selected content category,
• Full names of contributors and any credentials,
• Identified corresponding contributor, if more than one
• Manuscript title,
• Abstract or summary (text within 250 words maximum),
• Keywords (up to 5 maximum),
• Main body text,
• References and acknowledgements,
• Figure/table captions list, 
• Contributor bios (200 words maximum),
• Copyright and permissions,
• Conflict of interest statement.

* Hyperlinks for all documents with either in-text or lists of references, and footnotes: 
Since one of the key features of the journal is extensive use of active hyperlinks within text, footnotes, and references, direct hyperlinks to all such sources should always be provided where available.

Photos, Art, and Graphics:
Content should be provided in the highest quality and in an electronic format that allows the journal to publish these visuals in the best way possible. Please follow the guidelines below to enable us to adequately prepare your artwork for the printed issue as well as the online version.

• Submit each illustration as a separate file in JPEG or TIFF format only, in at least 300 dpi resolution, and containing no text or graphs.
• Line art should be in EPS format and at least 800 dpi.
• Photos and graphics can be in color or black and white.
• Please provide the reference sources in the figure/table captions, if any.

Multimedia:

• Submit each media file in either MP4 or WEBM format (for video) and MP3 (for audio) only, and as a separate file from any text.
• Provide English language captions within the media itself for non-English audio or text.

Language: 

  For Submission:

• The primary language for submissions and publication is currently English.
• In addition, at least limited submissions in Arabic are available. (To ensure best accuracy in translation, if possible it is recommended to submit in both English and Arabic).
  

    For Accessing Content:

• The primary language for accessing content is currently English.
• Through our collaboration with a Jordanian university, 2-way Arabic translation is also a limited option (additional language translations are planned to be offered in the future).
• In addition, the flexibility offered by an on-line journal allows for integrating web-based translation apps for any language that assists with at least basic translation. As translation technology improves this function will continue to be upgraded and expanded upon.

Additional Options: 

Brief Video Introduction:
In addition to a written abstract or graphic, text authors and creators of photos, art, and graphics have the option of also providing a brief video or audio introduction to their contribution focused exclusively on the submitted content. This optional video or audio should be no longer than 1 minute and submitted as a separate media file.

Post-Publication Edits: 
Options exist for contributors to edit or update their content in the future, with review and prior approval from the editorial staff, and with dated markers to show when edits or updates occur. For major important updates these are marked as articles recommended to be re-read.

We are committed to improving and expanding on the platform logistics of the journal, including accessibility and use options. As available virtual technical capabilities improve we will be further advancing the sharing, learning, and application experience of both the professional and lay public to promote advancements in the interdisciplinary field of communal and transgenerational trauma globally.

Contributors:

Biographies: Contributor biographies (including any contributor photos in JPEG or TIFF format) should be within 200 words each, include full names, credentials and educational background, field, experience, positions and affiliations, etc. May include Email address and one link to contributors website or social media. As space permits, relevant publications may be included as well.

Number of authors (for Scholarly articles): If there are more than 6 authors, the first 6 author names may be listed followed by et al.

Consent: All contributors are acknowledged and give consent for submission and publication.

Contact and Communication: One individual contributor is identified as the corresponding contributor who takes primary responsibility for communication with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process, and ensures that all the journal’s administrative requirements, such as contributor details and gathering conflict of interest statements, are properly completed. The corresponding contributor is the person who signs the publishing agreement on behalf of all contributors to the content (if more than one), whose contact details are included in the submission, and who would be available after publication to respond to critiques of the work and cooperate with any requests from the journal for data or additional information should questions about the content arise after publication.

Previous distribution and/or publication: The contributor(s) should disclose any prior distribution and/or publication of any portion of the material to the Editor, including where the article has been shared as a preprint, for the Editor’s consideration and to ensure that appropriate attribution to the prior distribution and/or publication of the material is included. Reprints are acceptable based on agreement with the editors and verification of required permission from any previous publisher. 

Conflict Of Interest: All contributors are requested to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal, or other relationships with other people or organizations within three years of beginning the submitted work that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence, their work. Please add a paragraph for any ‘Conflict of interest’. When contributors have nothing to declare, please write: ‘The contributor(s) declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper.’

Contributor’s Publishing Agreement
Submission of material for publication in the IJCTT indicates full agreement by both the contributor(s) of the material and the IJCTT that the contributor(s) retains full copyright in and use of the material but grants IJCTT the right and license to publish and archive it for the full and the legal term of any copyright or assignment.

Open Access Contributor’s Publishing Agreement
The International Journal of Communal and Transgenerational Trauma is an open access journal consistent with our commitment to equal access to learning globally, and to marshaling the collective wisdom of the global population in addressing critically relevant historical and contemporary issues impacting all.    
The standard open access agreement allows others to access and re-use published works without permission as long as the work is properly referenced and the use is non-commercial. Commercial use refers to use of the content by a commercial organization or individual for direct (including through sale, loan, or license) or indirect (including through marketing campaigns, promotional materials, or presentations) commercial gain or remuneration. Alternative access arrangements may be available to meet particular needs, such as funder mandates, at the contributors request and in agreement with IJCTT.

The agreement requires that reuse complies with the following terms.
Full attribution must accompany any such reuse and include the following information about the original work:

• Contributor(s) name
  
• Date of publication
• Content Title
• International Journal of Communal and Transgenerational Trauma as the original publisher
• Volume and issue
• URL of the specific content on the IJCTT site

It is highly recommended that potential users notify the original contributor(s) and the IJCTT editors of their intention to distribute, adapt, translate, or republish this Open Access content.
